hace un par de semanas, se me acabó la vaselina pijita de sephora que traje de españa, y como aquí hace ya tiempo que dejamos de tener más de 10ºC, me acerqué a Macy's con el fin de evitar que se me cayeran los labios a cachos y acabé comprando otra de Clinique con la que casi se me corta la respiración al pasar la tarjeta para pagar. eso sí, salí de allí con dos bolsitas muy monas que llevaban dentro una crema hidratante, una loción limpiadora, un rimmel, unas sombras y otro pintalabios de regalo.

no sé a cuánta gente le contaría mi aventura, pero a principios de esta semana al mirar mi bandeja de correo de la universidad, encontré una colección de textos de distintos géneros, todos sobre la venta de cosméticos, como éstos:

The Makeover

My customer looks in the mirror
seeks transformation by an artist's touch.
Layers of blue-red base to hide blemishes,
dark circles, lingering lines.
She tells me about her divorce, failed career,
and a close friend's death - while I blend them away
in the folds of her face, chin and neck.
I apply gra liner, sketch soft peach shadow and
blush the patch scars; massage regret.
With skilled strokes I make her face even -
like a painted picture -one that has no memory
of an earlier place and time. Beneath blotted
lipstick she smiles while I complete her
portrait with powder.
